Launching 19 Oct 2026 · Global Bioeconomy Summit · Dublin

A network-of-networks for advancing the global bioeconomy transition.

Connecting the world’s leading bioeconomy networks behind one shared goal: advancing the global bioeconomy transition.

Why now

The global agendas for the Post-SDG era are being written right now

The global bioeconomy is in transition, and moving fast. What a decade ago was a set of national strategies is today a planet-spanning movement, taking root in an ever-growing number of contexts and communities.

Its full promise will only be realised if the many initiatives now shaping the bioeconomy join forces at decisive moments, agree on a common language, and act together on the policy agendas that will define the coming decades.

A bioeconomy based on a common understanding and shared voice can claim its place in the Post-SDG era; a fragmented one will be spoken for.

Our agenda

Three Bold Bets

The Partnership directs the combined weight of its networks at three endeavours that no single network could deliver alone.

Bold Bet 01

Positioning the bioeconomy for the Post-SDG era

Securing the bioeconomy as an integral part of the global policy and economy agendas that follow the Sustainable Development Goals, grounded in joint foresight towards 2040.

Bold Bet 02

Growing a common understanding

The bioeconomy is understood and practised differently across regions and sectors. Rather than imposing one definition, this bet connects that diversity of visions and pathways.

Bold Bet 03

Powering the private-sector transition

Turning ambition into investment, financing, markets and implementation — engaging not only large companies and investors, but SMEs, cooperatives, producers and biodiversity-based businesses.

What makes a bet bold. The Partnership understands Bold Bets as wicked problems that no single network can tackle alone. They are high-risk, high-reward: each has the potential to deliver transformative change towards a global bioeconomy, and a highly positive impact on quality of life.

What unites us

The Joint Charter

The Joint Charter has been developed with numerous interested bioeconomy networks. It is the founding document of the Global Bioeconomy Partnership — a declaration of intent, not a contract. It creates no legal or financial obligations, and every partner keeps its full autonomy.

Five shared
commitments
01

Speak with one voice where we find common ground, and bring the bioeconomy into the agendas that will shape the Post-SDG era.

02

Work towards a common understanding of the bioeconomy that connects its diverse visions and pathways.

03

Contribute to the Partnership’s common endeavours: its Bold Bets and related deliverables.

04

Convene and exchange around the Global Bioeconomy Summit as our shared stage.

05

Amplify one another, extending reach and visibility that no single network commands alone.

Our guiding principles

How the Partnership works

Collaborative

Amplifying existing initiatives rather than replacing them. The Partnership adds convening power, not another layer.

Intersectoral

Spanning all sectors of the bioeconomy to build coherence and mutual understanding across very different communities.

Equitable and inclusive

Encouraging meaningful participation of all world regions and stakeholder groups, with particular attention to those under-represented in global frameworks.

The founding document

Read the Joint Charter

At the 2024 Global Bioeconomy Summit in Nairobi, high-level leaders issued a clear call to establish a Global Bioeconomy Partnership. The Joint Charter answers that call — committing not merely to build a network, but to achieve together what none can achieve alone.

It is presented at the High-Level Round Table in Dublin on 19 October 2026 and endorsed by six Founding Partners.

Partners

Initiated by the IACGB

An independent, internationally recognised bioeconomy think tank that convenes the Global Bioeconomy Summit and, through the ZEF BioSummit project, secured the resources to launch the Partnership. The IACGB chairs the Steering Committee during the establishment phase.
